AED STAND ALONE COURSE OR PAD (PUBLIC ACCESS DEFIB) PROGRAM
This course is designed for persons having a public and/ or workplace emergency response responsibility.
Sudden cardiac arrest in adults is frequently caused by ventricular fibrillation, an abnormal, chaotic heart rhythm (quivering) that prevents the heart from pumping blood. The most effective treatment for ventricular fibrillation, in conjunction with CPR, is defibrillation: the delivery of an electrical shock to the heart with a machine called a defibrillator. Recent advances in defibrillator design now make it possible for non-professionals, with limited training, to provide defibrillation to a patient earlier, following sudden cardiac arrest, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
